Design

Furniture on the Street works with the Invisible Man, a designer with 20 years professional industrial experience. The approach, pallet of materials and finishes lend themselves easily to different forms which can be customised to an individual customers requirements.

design

As Furniture on the Street batch produces everything to order, there are options for specials or the possibility to make alterations to designs to meet particular customer needs.

In isolation, design services can appear expensive. Our approach has been to tie any design development into an order for furniture, thereby spreading the costs.

By way of an example, the London Borough

of Camden paid £15,000 for 10 benches for St Martins Gardens which included product development, trips to metal fabricators and finishers, youth workshops and young people’s involvement in the assembly of the benches at a local community centre.

Workshops

Furniture on the Street goes beyond the common consultation event where proposals are pinned up and resident input is noted. In the spirit of Planning For Real we have developed engaging workshops which allow local people the opportunity to be part of the creative process.

The number of events and the specific aims for each workshop are set before hand.

Workshop content is tailored to meet these aims. Where budgets allow, furniture can literally be designed from scratch.

workshops

And to nurture creativity amongst clients, local residents or with youth groups, Furniture on the Street can organise workshops in which scale models can be generated quickly, alternative finishes explored, and suitability of use reflected upon. This represents an important stage in working towards delivery of the type of solution the client and user groups want.
